That’s a shame on your engine. I wonder why it’s got no compression. I hope you didn’t pay the asking price for it!

Not sure I’d bother with the oil pump but I’d certainly do the water pump as they’ve got a reputation for leaking.

Do you know what age car your engine came out of?

The parts bill for doing the timing chains on mine is running around £1300 just now and that doesn’t include the tools you’d need.

I'm away from homje at the moment all I know it's done lessthan 50k, it came complete with every thing g on it
. I got the car for 6k the body work and the inside are really immaculate. I'm keeping the cost down as my sons frie d is a great mechanic and has a dingbro account saving me money.

That’s handy having a friendly mechanic to do the work for you Smile

Sounds like you’ll have a perfect car when it’s finished! I bet you’re looking forward to driving it.

Have you decided what you’re doing with your old engine? If you get to the point of scrapping it, I’d love to strip it to see what went wrong if you’re not going to do it yourself.

Looks like the old engine is a timing chain issue as all 4 cylinders are apparently down. Will get to checking it once car is up and running. Car will be spoiled new Brembo calipers, and brakes, upgrade engine pSC pulley kit and ECU mapped potential 650bhp, trying to get a Gurrelia exhaust from Holland will Sound like SVR at the press of a button. 22" Overfinch Wheels with Perlli Verde tyres, black Gloss front grill, new front and back LED lights and a new Android Head unit for infotainment and limited control. Its taking a it of time ut it will e worth it to me.It will.
be a one off.

Each to their own but that noise spoils the Range Rover for me.

I'm a huge fan of the SVR where everything is turned up to 11 but in the L322 it's just out of character and spoils the reason I chose the car. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

If you re-pully and map it just be careful with the gearbox, it can't take too much over the standard torque, get the oil changed.... Avoid Grand Prix starts and don't floor it unless all the wheels are pointing in the same direction... Thumbs Up Pete

Hi mate the one I looked at was bluey/black and had it looked like joker on the number plate,is that the one you bought?
As the dealer showed me all the invoices they had done but his mechanic said the supercharger was knocking and the smoke I thought was coming from the timing out. Not sure if it’s the same car if it is I do have a video of it

That was the one lookslike something went wrong with one of the chain. It was a shopfy job lots of bolts missing and bumper held on with tie wraps. Hopefully the old engine can be fixed and sold on

Ahhh sorry to hear that mate.hopefully you can get there sorted. When I put my iid tool on it about 28 faults come up and one of the main faults was timing codes and cylinders 1-8. So I knew something was wrong with the chains but the car was perfect.

I took chance but got a 50K replacement complete engine for £4700. A faulty engine is going for about £2800 that's the deposit on a recondition exchange that can be repaired plus about a min of £6500 for the recondition Unit. If they tell you that your old engine is goosed you loose your deposit.
Hoping to get something back on it.
The replacement engine chaning the chainstensioners and all belts water pump too. The body itself is in a very good condition and its the exact same interior as late wife's L405 was. I hope to give this one a bit of a 4x4 setup and will put 20" wheels on it for off reoading. I'll post some pics of it but I have decided I'm not sharing anything on it. Should handle alot better than the L405 as it do no have Adaptive suspension.
