Car insurance renewal gone up 60%

As the title really. My car insurance this year has gone up 60% and that’s even after using the comparison sites for the best deal

Just wanted to vent! Big Cry

How close are you to renewal, any claims/convictions, have you full NCD, have you shopped around? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Some companies are refusing to insure RR full stop.

Probably an L405 onwards thing but when I contacted NFU Mutual for a quote last month for my 10 year old L405 they informed me that they are no longer offering new policies for Range Rovers. It's not a location thing either, I live in rural Scotland. Most of my neighbours are farmers who no doubt are NFU customers and a few drive RRs so I wonder what they're being told?

My own experience after having to renew in August was the same & this also applied to our other car a BMW.

I further noticed that mainstream insurers like Direct Line - were not prepared to quote at all. Or those like Admiral , LV & the like were wanting over £2,000 PA on an L322 probably not worth much more than £12K, albeit parked overnight on a street in London (which, I appreciate does affect premiums).

Previously, the above main stream insurers around the time of the Covid crises would have quoted annual premiums of around £600 PA.

I did get it down to under £600 PA - using Comparison sites- ironically, with the same lesser insurer, albeit with a different broker.

However, my real fear is that these less mainstream insurers will also hike their premiums to the £1,000's next year. Meaning, that running an L322, what with the annual Road Tax & the inevitable big repair bills will become somewhat prohibitive.

just about to renew mine, I tried all the comparison sites and others suggested here but the renewal was the 'cheapest' at a 100% increase to £1200pa with esure. No claims, no convictions, tracker, immobiliser, 54yr old main driver with business use (safety manager in civil engineering). Made no difference when I proposed garaging the car overnight, or increasing the excess to £1k.

Not sure what I can do more to bring it down. First time FFRR owner

13 years NCB, No claims, no points or convictions - Secure Hospital Car Park during the Day, Driveway at night - absolutely criminal

I have only used compare the market so far, but was still hoping for less of an increase

Arch, have you tried Saga?

I switched to them this year as they beat the incumbent Aviva by a useful margin.

I did indeed Seatown, their quote was £1800. I'm baffled as to why it has gone up so much, annoyed at the extra measures I have taken aren't recognised as being a reduced risk for theft, and I haven't claimed ever, advanced driver too. First time FFRR owner

Keyless entry has a lot to answer for. On compare the meertwat keeping a car in the garage was an increase for some insures as 'things fall off shelves' - i kid you not.

The whole industry is corrupt IMHO!

I got covered for £850 by tescos after Admiral insulted me as per above.
