garage to garage

I think I know the answer, but just to confirm it.

My old blue girl has had her sills and arches repaired, but sadly the MOT failed her on the front sub frame as well.
Now the body shop have nearly finished the sills ( I will shock you later in a new thread when shes back) but it now wants the sub frame changing.

Am I right in saying, no MOT and Tax....must transport it from one garage to the other? If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Yes. The only time you can legally use it on the road with no MoT is if you are going to a pre-booked MoT test.

I agree with Weegie. If it's a short distance (less than 10 miles), shouldn't be more than £100 to have it trailed.

Get the garage to drive it there on trade plates.

Trade plates don't cover you for no MOT

You can legally drive it to a booked MOT test, and away again, but only if the car is roadworthy...

I thought you could drive away to a place for repairs - happens a lot around here with MoT-only businesses.

Driving a vehicle that's failed You can take your vehicle away if your current MOT certificate is still valid and no 'dangerous' problems were listed in the MOT.
DVLA website

The OP didn't suggest that applied. John

Thanks Weegie, I had thought I read it right. Thumbs Up

The distance between both garages is 19 miles so not worth the risk imo, some might....but I don't have £2500 for fines and a day in court...especially as my vet bill for my horse is over 2k mark and getting higher.

Tomorrow I'll see if garage 2 can pick it up, they did for our VW Passat the other month when that rear subframe failed when Mrs WD drove it. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Re the tax part of that , you can also drive to and from MOT station with no tax (prebooked) as you need an MOT to tax it .

Not recommeded, as his car failed its MOT with a very explicit warning

FAIL
Do not drive until repaired ( dangerous defects )
Front Subframe etc

Are all front and rear subframes the same across the years? If so why not buy a good second hand one, have it galvanised and ask the garage to swap them over rather than repair?

I have a good secondhand subframe that has been cleaned up, repainted and its being fitted.
I will start another thread on this work when the good ol lady is back home. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!
