I have the Thule 3 bike version which looks to be almost identical (exception being the capability to carry an extra bike) - they are very good, easy to load up and easy to store - mine hangs on a hook on the wall of the garage

I did look at Thule, but couldn't find one for 4 bikes - which I need

+ I found a discount code for Halfords that made it a better price

Looks from the pictures available to be almost identical in design to the Thule one anyway.

On the cheaper Thule ones (like mine) you have to put the carrier over the towball and then tighten up a bolt with a spanner, its only the more expensive ones that have a handle/lock to hold the carrier onto the car.

The design works well and is easy to use. Didn't notice on the halfords website, but does this one tilt? You need to be able to tilt the rack when the bikes are on in order to be able to open the upper part of the tailgate, otherwise the handlebars will foul when you try to open it.

They do a tilting one, but it gets a poor review, which put me off.

I was thinking I wouldn't be able to open the bottom tailgate, but the top would still open.

Clamps to the tow ball and so far has held four mountain bikes to the back of my L322 without fail. I can also open the top tailgate with it in place + it tilts to allow lower tailgate access.

Have to admit I get concerned with 4 bikes mounted and going round corners - would feel more comfortable with extra securing points but that said it does seem to work well. "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

I wasn't sure how well that type would work, as our bikes vary in size and don't have the traditional crossbars for mounting on carrier.

I load up mine and the wifes full size mountain bikes - my 11 yr olds mountain bike (about the same as the wifes) and a small 6yr olds no problem. The crossbar issue hit me too but you can buy Thule accessories that clamp between the seat post and the handlebar stem and act as a full height crossbar. "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

i have got the 3 bike version off this and it is pretty good

Bought one today, so will be having a go at fitting tomorrow
