i dont quite understand how the years work? this is an april 2005 model but it says 2006 facelift version? has someone tampered with this and changed to be a 2006 front end grille etc? how else (other than the grille) could you spot a 2005 car pretending to be a 2006? is anything different inside?

ps. im not even convinced this is the SE, its coming up on webuyanycar (you know where put the reg in and it gives you a summary of your car) as a standard Vogue

the seats and the steering wheel look worn out for that low mileage ... interior looks more like the *100 k miles* you are afraid about ...

If it were a true Vogue SE surely they'd have a photo of the RSE to prove it? It's badged as a Vogue too. My car is also an early 2005 reg but a 2006MY facelift so it seems ok on that front.

I'd say whoever has prepped it has gone overboard with silicone spray inside thats all, and applied it to every surface type, wrongly.

It's also got RR Sport alloys, not recommended for the FFRR.

Other things to look for on a facelift car are the newer rear light units, the old ones have an amber top lense for the indicator, newer ones are clear top lense.

If original grilles are fitted they are 3 fins rather than 2. Headlights are very awkward to swap so if they have the round section lights and not the square ones its likely to be a FL one.

Yep; too much silicone spray, so don't worry about it.

Cairns ble is a stunning colour IMO.

One of our newer members ITGuy has a lovely Cairns Blue Vogue, also an early facelift. His seats are not two tone though. I actually never liked the older 2 tone seats. However, the 2010 MY seats in 2 tone look awesome.

I would be very weary of buying a grain of salt from Saxton's, let alone a car from them. Their service is a farce. They make feel like they are doing you a favour. It was a horrible experience. Do a search on the web and the RRSport forum and see for yourself.

With regards to the two tone leather, it is a very personal choice but I think it will be hard to move it on when you decide to sell the car. That is just my opinion.

For my search, I got the dealers to do some of the leg room (such as Beadles of Sidcup, David Brown Cars, etc) for me and kept an eye on sites such as AutoTrader, CompuCars, AutoExposure, and of course the Approved Used site. In the end, I got my car from an independent advertising in AutoTrader.

As for petrol vs diesel, this will depend on your budget for running the car and your willingness to visit the petrol station. It was something I deliberated in my head for quite a while. In the end, I managed to secure a TDV8 by pushing my budget up. My annual mileage is similar to yours, about 6000 a year. Having just returned from a trip to Aviemore in the Highlands (just under 1200 mile round trip for me), I am kind of glad I went for the diesel. Either way, you will not get more than 25mpg (30mpg pushing it) out of either motor. If you do go for the petrol, I believe the supercharged motor does not lend itself to LPG conversion as well as the 4.4 V8 Petrol.

The more I think about it the more i'm being drawn towards the Supercharged Splitting the petrol costs over what it would be a month is neither here nor there really. I really love the black with ivory (more than any other combination i've seen) and I really wanted the rear seat entertainment (which many Supercharged seem to have).

What I might do is get a Supercharged now (either FF like this or RRS like this) keep that for a year or so - then i'll be in a better position to get a 2007 or newer. If I love it I might end up keeping it and not moving to the TDV8 at all.

Out of interest, what things I should look out for with a 4.2 Supercharged? For example is high mileage an issue? Ive heard that petrol engines typically have half the lifespan of a diesel and are on their last legs after 80,000 miles (and when major problems can kick in) - but with a diesel high miles isn't such a problem (is this true?)

I'm also always wary of cars that have had lots of previous owners, and some of the ones i've looked at have had 4 (or more) previous owners - is this something to run away from?

The one thing I have never liked about the early SC cars is the front headrests. They gave them a big bulbous round thing totally different to all other models and IMO look pants, a real Heath Robinson attempt. The STD Vogue SE headrests look way better (IMHO) Discovery 4 HSE

the other thing i was going to ask too, was if the handling on a Supercharged Vogue SE would be much different to the standard Vogue SE? I did prefer the handling on the 4.2 RRS I test drove over the TD6 Vogue SE.
