Parking sensor connectors and sensor loom to car connector

Does anyone know if you can buy new sockets to connect to the parking sensors on an 05/6 L322?
I am trying to find ones which can have new wires connected to them instead of connecting to the original wiring supplied by LR (how they imagined that brittle, thin wires would cope is beyond me!).

I have fixed my loom recently but the original wiring is woefully inadequate and I plan on replacing the whole loom with more durable and flexible wiring but the original connectors at the sensors are impossible to rewire. Am not sure about the one connecting to the car itself but any info will be gratefully received.

Tom,

I recently patched one of my rear parking sensors. But I also dismantled one of the three female connectors that pushes into the actual sensor.

It seemed to pull apart quite easily and the blade type attachment in the 'plug' pulled out easily enough. I didn't need to re-solder on the blade as there was enough wire functioning beyond the plug to get a solder onto and place in a 'jump' over the break.

The loom wire is pretty thin and I did think a new loom maybe the way forward if there are continuous wire breaks.

Oh right so did it come apart in a way which would allow you to resolder new thicker wire to the terminals??

The aperture the blade and wire go thru is pretty small and there is a yellow rubberised material at the end of the blade as a 'bung' that the wire passes thru.

I suppose you could solder direct onto the blade and use a small tool to prod the blade back in to the holder. This is what I was looking at when I decided just to patch the wire after I cut it approx 2" from the connector.

It is difficult to explain but the dismantling of the connector is obvious when you have it in your hand (plastic white u shaped bit comes off and allows you to ease the blades and wires out of the connector).

Luckily I didn't take any photos as I was doing it Big Cry

Fair enough. You did exactly what I did ie spliced in a new wire up to a few inches from the connector which is why I thought maybe you could rewire the connector itself.
Cheers for your help

I might get a spare loom to play with. Am looking at this:

and wondering if the loom to car connector might be the same. Or one of the BMW ones:

It depends what end of the car you rate on about. I believe only the rear sensors are on a separate loom as the fronts for part of the main engine bay loom and cannot be detached from the car without removing the entire thing. The sensor plugs do come apart but i do agree that they are a little on the flimsy side. 06MY 4.4 V8 Autobiography Cairns Blue with Navy & Parchment Interior
