Hi Lolo
The marks can come back, I found that since I polished and then waxed my car last November no marks have come back and despite having the best intentions of cleaning it myself I did use the local car wash guys a couple of times in that period. A good sealing wax (like collinite) will protect the paintwork from most things and also makes the cleaning easier. Plus, if you do get some swirls again, you still have the DA to quickly polish them out.
The marks on my car were buffer trails from an rotary polisher, used by someone either without sufficient time or skill, or both. Using the DA I managed to polish them out and the car looks a million times better in the sunlight .
I washed, then clay-barred, then polished and finally waxed. took about 6 hours as the car is feckin massive when you are cleaning it this intensively. But the results you can get are well worth it.
