Are they the chrome covers that you can get to stick on to the OEM mirror caps or actual covers ,,,,

They look aftermarket to me. There is a lip between the bottom half of the mirror and the chrome of about 4mm.

I'd be interested in this too, i spent a while tugging, pulling and prising even inserted a thin blade but they are still on. I think maybe I might have to break them to get them off. Geoff |

If they are genuine, they are glued on .... not meant to come off! Land Rover Addict

If they are OE and fitted correctly with adhesion promoter then you can easily smash the rear case of the mirror if your not careful... Shall we say they stick like s |

Mine came with the chrome covers on the mirrors, after I prised them off I was surprised to see they were genuine Landrover parts. They are held on with a mastic material, just start gently prying at the edges to 'break the seal', once they start to release they come off easily.

I took my chrome aftermarket covers off recently by inserting a wallpaper stripper with force and dragged it side to side.. Did the same underneath, they came off not a mark on the mirrors, they were glued on aswell as 3M. I then tried to paint gloss black but ended up just buying a new set on the bay.. So I now have a crappy attempt of a respray mirror covers here doing nothing.. |

Not sure you can Geoff, I was genuinely surprised to find landrover logo's and part numbers on the reverse side once I had them off the car. |

Geoff, we fit both and it depends where they are made... If you look at the inside of your mirrors (closest surface to your windows) does the mirror cover follow the centre line to where it meets the front cover? Or does it arc around the top with a 10mm or so lip to the top? Another way to explain it. If you took your mirror covers off, would they look like a mirror that someone has cut in half perfectly? Or would they look like a mirror thats been cut in half then the inside edge (nearest the window) cut round in a half circle to make fitting easier (because thats not visable from outside the car) I hope that makes a little sense to you? If you have a pic Geoff of the inside edge nearest the glass i could tell you... Craig ![]() |
