Legal Eagles Help needed

Upon return from work yesterday i found that Murphys (no its not a joke ) had dug up my hard standing and half my front garden looking for an electric cable on behalf of YEDL electric company.
I have been told by the wife Bow down that they have destroyed our mature plants and shrubs etc and all the hours of hard work that has gone into greating this garden Whistle Also the hard core and pebbles are in a large pile mixed with soil..
I have contacted YEDL and they inform me that they have every right to enter my land and do what ever they want to find " Their " cable without having to inform me in any way, they didnt even leave a note through the letter box to explain the situation.
They claim that after next Tuesday all will be returned to how it was before, The wife tells me that this will never be possible due to the types of plants, shrubs etc Whistle been damaged

Has any one ever encountered a similar situation, and do i have any come back on this

I'm sure they don't have the right if they have not given you notice.

They do have the right to do the work if it's emeregency or required, but they surely have to give a certain notice.

I had a similar thing a few years ago, but we were given notice. They made a right hash of the driveway which was clay bricks. They broke loads and put concrete ones back in.
I just had a word with the foreman who apologised & they did come back & replace with clay ones.
I was probably lucky that the guy in charge was helpful and understanding so it got sorted.

I would give citizens advise a quick call and if they confirm they should have given you notice take em to the cleaners !

If you have photo's of how your garden was, get them to hand and start making copies & send letter to md of the company explaining that you want it put back exactly how it was.
If you don't want the hassle, I'm sure one of these "no win no fee" guys would take it on.

good luck !

i had the same problem with virgin media not long back...i went mental ,and they hurriedly left..

the supervisor came around and apollogiesed and things were ok...

they need a 'wayleave' which is a legal thingy that lets them do the job on your land , without this they cant do anything ... ... - .- -.
