Not sure why you would but each to their own Whistle

Look like a cheap copy of the Style 7 RRS wheel - like this one

IMHO will look wrong on a FFRR

Hell, it's your FF and not mine. Mr. Green

You'd get an increase in gearing with those taller tyres.

If you were seriously considering it Mick you need to ask about the load rating of the wheel (not tyre) and if memory serves, FFRR ones are 925 KG each. SSRR ones are 925 KG and D3 are 940 KG. Anything you buy must meet or exceed this.

Then there's the tyres. Load rated at 107 (975 KG) is not enough for a FFRR which needs 109 (1030 KG) or insurance will be void in the event of a crash. Sod the warranty, safety is much more important.

Last is offset. 45mm is less than the 52mm on a standard FFRR rim, BUT, I can't see any mention of rim width. Assuming it's a 9.5 (a-la SSRR) then the wheel moves in by 7mm and the outside edge protrudes about 19mm more. Might cause clearance issues over the brake caliper. Needs checked carefully.

So, still wanna do it? Nah, thought not mate. Thumbs Up

Dom

Oh, BTW.............

Those taller tyres are actually shorter, by 5% of the width. Standard FFRR tyres are 255/55/19, whereas SSRR uses the 255/50/19 quoted, the middle number being the wall height as a percentage of the tyre width. So you'd get shorter gearing.
The 20" tyres on VSE and S/C models uses the 255/50 size, as a 20" tyre, so 255/50/20.

Correct me if i'm wrong ...

To an extent, the load rating of a tyre is a bit of a mis-used/understood figure ( cant think of the best workding ). As I understand it, its not necessarily the maximum load the tyre could take, but maximum load the tyre can take when running at its maximum speed. Its as this point that the tyre goes through the most amount of flexing and heating up. At slower speeds, there a bit more of an overhead in reality.

Then you have what the car actually weighs versus its theoretical max weight.

Thats not to say that I advise overloading tyres, just that its worth knowing what the numbers represent. V8 or else ...

i like them. original design is great but so are some of the designs made aftermarket. just depends which one you pick however they are very nice and as craig has shown they suit the car.

OK, this subject has been well covered on Disco3, mainly because of D3 and RRS interchangeability, except that the RRS runs on 109 load index and the D3 needs 111.

There have been a number of cases of blowouts when greenlaning on RRS tyres with a D3. Do a search and you'll find them. These are not just sidewall blowouts either, there are photos of huge holes in the tread area.

There is only one way with tyres. ALWAYS use tyres with a load index of AT LEAST that quoted by the manufacturer of the vehicle. Using under-rated tyres will invalidate insurance, and if you get an astute rozzer who actually does know the difference between his ar5e and his elbow, it'll cost you 3 points (and up to £2500 in fines) for each tyre which is contravening the construction and use regs. A tyre doesn't have to be bald to be illegal !!
