Mysterious battery drainage

2006 SC 56000m
Can anyone help? Car is in at main dealer for service + look at why the above has just stared happening.
Car has been on diagnostic machine for 2 hours and it says the car will not go into sleep mode. They dont know why. Dealer says they need the car for another 2 hours on the machine to try and find the fault!
Am I throwing away good money after bad? Any ideas what may be wrong?

Cheers

Will the car go into sleep mode when wired up to testbook or whatever it is they are using|? I would have thought the diagnostic machine would keep it awake?

Easiest way (in the dark). Lock the car and check the little red light by the gear stick. This should go out after @ 10 minutes (if not sooner) showing the car has gone to sleep.

More difficult way to test for current leakage is to work your way through the fuses in the glovebox to see if you can find the device that is drawing too much current. There is a thread on here somewhere showing a piece of kit designed just for this.

Silly question, but are the steering wheel motors shutting off properly when it returns the wheel to the dash after ignition off?

My FF drained her battery suddenly and it was one of the 'wheel motors with a faulty sensor. Needed the usual total replacement.

Difficult to hear as the motor is fairly quiet.

But i suspect a dealer would pick that up easily. Si. <This is my name.

Dealer leaving car connected to battery charger tonight to see if by replicating a new battery it goes to sleep. Fingers crossed.
