Steering problem with one black plastic nut

Hallo dear Range Rover friends, yesterday the electric telescope function of my steering column doesn´t function exactly, I could take it from hand up and down, after looking, I saw, that the spindle is rotaring in a black plastic-nut, which I could build out (Two imbusscrews for the reach-motor out), it is no normal plastic-nut, it is black, and the (german word = GEWINDE) is destroyed. It is possible to send pictures in this forum?

Regards from germany, Uli

I recently rebuilt a 5HP24 for a chap who runs a Land Rover mobile repair/service business. He was telling me that he’d seen this reach motor problem so often that he’d resorted to having a quantity of the screw drive nuts especially made in brass. Apparently the special trapezoidal thread employed for the lead screw meant that the tap he needed to produce the thread had cost him £300!

RESPECT-RESPECT for the guy, who is a specialist for nuts..., very good quality, I like such a good work!!!!! I will produce (My wife says, that I only spend time for experiments with Range Rover) that part in nylon or teflon. wait some days, but better it would be, that we know who is the supplier of the steering-column.

Regards from germany, Uli
