OOpps......ignition timing ? .....it had been a long day !! Must have spent all of it trying to find my spark plugs !! Laughing

Changing the timing of when and how the explosion occurs is what I was getting at. I am sure clever things can still be done to "even out" the bang and make the engine smoother and run better........though there is still ignition in a diesel, it just doesn't use an external spark..........

I have spoken to Pete Bell a few times, mainly about Td5's though. He taught Gary at Alive Tuning in the early days.

I too, have heard good things about him. Bell Auto Services in York if I remember right.

The idea of being able to switch between maps sounds interesting. I've read you can do it "on the fly" with a Td5.......not sure about Td6....... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

if you are thinking about a tuning box, i can recommend this company and their products!! i have had them fitted to both my FFRR and my Touareg. the results are fantastic. Andrew the guy who owns the company knows his stuff very well.

the advantage of these in my opinion is that they are an established company that will sort out any problems without any hassle, a 3 yr old for new warranty is given on every box!!

and when i have changed my car all i have had to pay for is a new wiring harness for my new car. you send your box back, they remap it to your current car and all you have to do is pick which map you want to run and away you go.

these are not just pices of pooh or dodgy resistor things they are very well thought out bits of kit. you will get all the information from their web site, give them a call.

the one i had for my Touareg altered everything properly, including boost pressure etc etc as the wiring harness plugged into all the relevant sensors with OEM plugs to make it easy.

the TD6 is not as complex, but mine gained noticable power, mpg and was a whole load smoother to drive.

Mine has the Tunit thing fitted by previous owner, never driven a std. one so hard to give comparison. Anyone local thinking about one happy to take you for a spin.
