Should we have an 'Ask Stan' thread?

It would save having 1,000 new threads for the same topic and therefore save bandwidth.

Someone who shall remain nameless on another forum asked about wiring his garage and I said the easiest way was to hook into the street lighting. He then sent me dozens of pm's asking how it was done Laughing Laughing

No. It won't change anything. People still won't search the Ask Stan sub forum and continue to ask the same questions. Without strict moderation or really firm rules (I am a member of one forum where if you post the same title as one that already exists, you get banned, it works!! but not very helpful....)

The best Stan and Martin can do is close or delete the thread with a PM to the member. Insistence on good titles should also be important (e.g. "Advice Needed" or "Help please" are not exactly easy to search on later, even though they may contain good info) .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

I don't really mind people asking and being directed to the right place, it's friendlier and that's the attitude I want Thumbs Up
