Vehicle raising slowly message

I viewed a range rover last night with a view to buying it.

When was driving I stopped, dropped the suspension and then drove away to make sure the vehicle would raise, it came on with the message "vehicle rasing slowly" and the light on the middle setting was flashing for ages, they guy said it was normal! However after owning several range rovers I know it's not, I've never seen that warning before!

So my next question is.....has anyone else had it? Could it be a leaking airbag taking a while to fill or the compressor on its way out.

Thanks

Richard

Could be many things, but my bet would be a weak/worn compressor

i've had that once or twice. I would suspect it is not normal and something is worn (compressor). Factor in some discount if the rest of the car is worth a punt.

My first guess would be the compressor is on it's way out , I suppose it would depend on how old the car was they don't last that long it seems . 2008 MY Supercharged

Sad Me too, but only occasionally.... Got me thinking.. Using some tools, electrical tape and black magic, would it be possible to use a small high pressure tyre pump (halfords fag lighter job) as a replacement? Thoughts please.. Previously..

I've seen the "vehicle raising slowly" message before after checking (or "playing" according to my wife) with the ability to raise or lower the car.

If the compressor is getting hot, then it can cause that message. Of course, if the reservoir is empty and a request to raise comes in, then not only will the compressor be raising the car "slowly" but will also be trying to fill the reservoir?

I'd give the car a good run then see if the message reappears?

Just thinking to myself....the guy said he had put a new battery on recently

Do you not need to turn the wheel side to side a few times or if you dont it can mess up the suspension?

Just a thought?

Yes, if he hasn't reset the suspension after a battery change, it can cause many different errors.

Simple enough to check, but also remains a useful bargaining tool Wink
