thinking of buying one of these especially with the £50 rebate promotion ,but can anyone tell me if the gps can be used without any wi-fi connection...if i cache google maps will i be able to use maps offline .. ... - .- -.

i believe there are alan, but not looked into the navigation/directions part of it.. i mainly want to cache google maps and 'see' where i am on salisbury plain for instance.. ... - .- -.

the phone app or map would have still shown them there location...i think its the un-experianced bit that messed them up.. ... - .- -.

I use my Nexus 7 as an incar GPS, you can save google maps offline and the GPS will show your location without wifi, however it cannot calculate routes without an internet connection.

my son has just brought a nexus 7 and he's chuffed with it..i'm looking at the 10 inch tab2 which i assume will be the same as the nexus regarding the gps... ... - .- -.
