I can see where you are coming from, the posts on the forum get confusing over part numbers.

My understanding is that you need to fit the newer BMW unit, which the Land Rover dealers never had. You will need to go to a BMW dealer.

You can replace the entire unit, or you can just replace the "element" part. I replaced the element part only, and have not had an issue. It is like a plastic cone shape. You never change it - gravity lets the oil drop on it, and it runs down and away.......there is nothing there to get blocked.

I didn't fit it myself - the garage did it whilst doing other stuff, and they said it just dropped straight in. ie there was no tab to cut or anything.

I understand that when others have done it, there may have been a tab, but you can take it off with a knife.....

I also understand the part is the same on the Td4 Freelander and 320d BMW's, but I have no proof of this.

The original foam based filter can get blocked and cause turbo failure amongst other things, if not chenged regularly. BMW redesigned the unit to just be like a plastic cone vortex, so can never block.

I think you can just replace the filter part, though you can replace the whole unit if you prefer.

The part number I saw for the whole assembly is BMW 11127799224 - I can't guarantee this, as I didn't do the whole unit.

For the filter/element only, its BMW part number 11127799367 "Oil Seperator" and that fitted fine. I guarantee that.

The entire unit is double the price, approx £20 for "element" or £42 ish for complete unit.

Hope this helps. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

New Zealand

I fitted mine today.
It took a bit longer than I expected to arrive due to someone at GSF putting Australia on the label instead of New Zealand.
The complete unit is Vaico part number V20-0956 which equals BMW 11 12 799 224.
I pushed out the the mounting screws and ferrules from the original one and pressed them into the new one as the new screws are a different Allen key size and are not captive.
When I changed the OE foam filter I obviously didnt swap gaskets or fitted the front one the wrong way as the tag was not in its slot. I also notice oil around the injectors so maybe this gasket not fitting right is the cause of oil dripping onto the steering rack. It is never enough to hit the ground and does not appear to be coming from the turbo or wastegate.
Fingers crossed

Ah ha that might explain why mine went to Australia then. If we placed our orders at a similar time someone might have got confused.
And Gary it was a lovely warm late winters day yesterday when I fitted mine in the driveway. Wink

Fitted mine today. 11127799224. Old and new housings look the same. Changed furls & screws as Adrian did. Only difference was the allen key size. Could have left as was.

Could have saved some money and just got this. 11127799367
