England

2 years ago, no cool air, so went to Kwik Fit for a regass. They said everything OK, but never really worked well, I got clouds of "something" coming out the vents. A quick "screwdriver to the nipple test" (choose which nipple wisely!!) showed no pressure in system.

Specialist identified a leaking condenser (air con rad) replaced this, regassed and been good to go since.

Find a specialist. There should be a mobile one who could come to you with all the right kit, or ask your indie or local garage who they use. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Give it a week and then check the pressure again (with an old can connected Wink ) to see if it's lost anything.
That way you know if there's a leak somewhere.

Glad it worked OK though, it's a good DIY system isn't it. Very Happy

Had a new condenser fitted earlier this month after mine passed a leak check and was re-gassed twice (once at independant, once at dealers)
Both times Air-Con lasted 2-3 days.
Can't give you a cost as it was warranty Razz
Had it, loved it!
