After my car was serviced I found quite a bit of excess wheel grease had been flicked about the alloys, and it becomes a pig to clean off.

So I was washing it today and thought I'd spent an hour or two just on the wheels, had not got any alloy wheel cleaner but remembered I had some of this, and what better to get rid of grease? Gunk Green Degreaser. I put some in an old Autoglym spray bottle I had and sprayed it on, used a wheel brush after 5 mins to get the stubborn bits off and then hosed it off, followed by a wash, hose and leather off.(Belt & braces)

The pictures were taken before I then washed them, hosed them down and dried them.

It really cleans the alloys well, and removes brake dust particles too. Check out the insides of the alloys

I hate cleaning wheels and am always on the lookout for a less labour intensive way to do it. I'm gonna give gunk a go on mine. 03 4.4 V8 petrol / lpg. 1st of many hopefully. I love my Rangie

Second on what Adam says about that stuff , used it both on mine and the wife's alloys yesterday and what a difference it has made especially to the wife's alloys as her wheels were really bad with brake dust

I've some Gunk in the garage, so will definitely be trying it at the weekend.

APC (All Purpose Cleaner) from Autoglym, diluted lightly and in a spray bottle also works very well.

Out of interest, what wheel cleaner brushes do you use? I bought a set from Monza recently and have been very disappointed with them. My old Autoglym think bristle brush is great, but lacks an angled head to get the inner rim clean. Si. <This is my name.

I use Vikan brushes. I have the soft bristle flat one for the face of the wheels and the arches, and the stiff cylindrical ones for the edges of the spokes (I drive a Volvo with multispokes).

Can't fault them - they feel nice and solid.

The current daddies are the Wheel Woolies, which aren't brushes as much as pads. They come in a set (S, M, L). I have the small one and as the bristles aren't aligned like on a conventional brush, they get more dirt out and can remain softer, so no big deal if they accidentally brush the paintwork. Researching my first Range Rover purchase
