My last one had very slow retraction on the front belts, the RR Sport I had they were really fast but in some ways, felt cheap because of it, perhaps the Range Rover seat belts are designed to retract slowly in a more gentile and classy way! Discovery 4 HSE

Some cars (Volvo) have such quick retracting belts they hit the window. My RR's driver seat belt not only is slow but stops after a while and gets caught in the door, therefore it chipped the paint, damaged the tire pressure label and the door panel too!

ditto mine are slow too.

perhaps a recall is in order - don't want it to end up like Toyota, fatalities having to force the issue

I can just see the news blurb: First Toyota now Land Rover.
Land Rover just announced a recall of 185,000 FFRange Rovers due to a defect in the seatbelt retraction system causing inordinately slow retraction.Unsubstantiated reports claim at least 7 deaths due to Range Rover owners being bored to death waiting for the seatbelt to retract... Rolling with laughter

Seriously, though, good to know I have nothing to repair. This was already on my 'to do' list. Bad to know that it will stay this way. Neutral

Well thats just answered the question as to why there are loads of chips and general knocks around the drivers door opening.

Wondered what sort of numpty could have done that over the years....

Now I know, its the silly slow retracting seatbelt, and I've been a numpty and trapped it in the door at least once in 3 or 4 months......

The buckle always slips too far down as well, and you have to reach down near the floor to get it..... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Yup, mine are like it too. I moaned to the dealer to replace it under warranty which they did. Net result is no bleedin' change. Evil or Very Mad

That'll be another crap LR design then.

My rears belts are also very slow retracting, I took the 1/4 panel off to make sure there was nothing jamming them, and all was clear, they are just a crap design.

This is a very common problem on BMW seatbelt parts. My 330ci convertible straps take days to retract, and have to be helped. It is a very common repair, the L322 in comparison is much better, even though it still seems unusually weak. Tom
