Apples new IOS6 - any good?

Just received notification of upgrade for my iPad to ios6.

Given the bad reports on the new maps, is it better NOT to upgrade so i can keep the existing (google maps) app, which I tend to use a lot, especially abroad (gets me out of trouble now and then!)

Are there other benefits to the upgrade? Apple says there are 200!!!

If your happy with it stick with it and wait for the googlemaps app to come out next month or longer and then maybe update. more bugs will be ironed out by then i reckon Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Personally I would wait to see what other issues there are.

There seems to be a few users who have had issues with the latest Lion upgrade (Mulitple playlists appearing in I tunes but without any content) which hopefully will be remedied with the new release.

With the market for smart phones, apps and content being fiercly fought over commercially as well as legally the focus on a product releases could mitigate the commercial readiness of the products that are being sold.

Look at the "development and enhancements" from the I Phone 4 to 4S and now 5. Incremental improvements which uness you need the latest and greatest is a total waste of an upgrade. IMHO Very Happy

Ok we all accept product evolution over a period of time but the drivers here are revenue enhancers rather than user based. Which is good news if you hold Apple shares.

I've upgraded my iPhone and wish I hadn't. The Apple map is indeed very poor. If you like and use Google maps (especially if you sue Streetview) then don't upgrade in my view. Graham

I've upgraded my 4S and wifey's upgraded her 4.

Maps is, as universally agreed, pants. I do like the nav function and it was handy at the weekend, but the area of Autoglymshire that I inhabit has an extremely poor satellite view and it just needs more work.

I like some of the other stuff, though, but it's not enough (as the maps remain a heavily used app in our household) for me to upgrade my ipad just yet. Si. <This is my name.

I bought one of those Motorolla transportables in the late eighties and the salesman sat there in front of me and said, that at £1039 + vat they would never be at a better price. Big Cry
