Wading Depth 19.5"

Manual says wading depth is 19.5" which doesn't seem much and I've seen loads of photos and videos of FFRR's wading up to their bonnet line without snorkels.

Not planning on going out to find a 3ft deep boggy hole but what is the true experience ? .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Atacama Sand

Joe, I have driven a p38 through a 60m long tank ditch where the water was level with the top of the bonnet and came over the roof as we drove through it. The trick was to keep sufficient speed that a bow wave was created in front and we never had any probs or stalled. (just may have been very lucky though!)

Interestingly, we were told off by the LR salesman in the other rangies on the area to slow down or else he would not let us drive their car - only to come across him one circuit later stalled in the middle of the water as we powered past him ....... At sufficient speed to get us out ok! Rolling with laughter

There are a few things you need to remember in life ;

1) Don't eat yellow snow

2) Always create a bow wave and keep with it.

I think these things are all well and good whilst you are moving, the issues start when you get stuck...and the water comes past the seals...........

You could probably stand it in 19 odd inches of water all day, without any water ingress issues ?

Perhaps its a case of them covering their butt........ 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

While I've not read about too many L322s with problems hydro-locking the motor, there were several incidents reported with the P38on RR.net, some even just in deep puddles entered at high speed which apparently sent a column of water into the air intake. In one case that stands out in my memory, pics very similar to below were posted only a few days before the same guy started a thread something along the lines of 'My Engine is Toast Sad'.

I really prefer to be adventurous with my off-road exploits and enjoy reading about similar experiences - but I have a lot of respect for deep water w/o proper preparation. For me this would include making sure all door seals are in good condition and sealing (doors not misaligned) as well as knowing exactly where the engine's air intake is and what I can do to prevent water ingestion. And while a bow wave is good, the L322s air intakes are in the front fender. Don't think the bow wave will prevent everything there...

a guesstimate height is to base it on the top edge of the wheel rim as the max wading depth.

but bow waves make the water look a lot deeper. V8 or else ...
