Has anyone done this??

The tank i have is half full as well which does not help in the slightest but from what i can see there is no other way to get the sender or feed/return fuel hose/lines and their unions

What a fraggle rocking mess!

My thinking is that I need to drop the exhaust at the back and the front then drop the tank shield then I can finally get access to the tank strap which is a bolt or two front and back. with the tank adequately supported and filler neck disconnected I can then begin to somehow drop about 60kg weight to the floor.

I have managed to get the car running again so I may buy a few metres of fuel hose from halfrauds and then use the lift pump to try and drain as much off the tank as I can as pump a few litres a minute judging by the rate it sucked the stuff up earlier and that will help a lot

So has anyone done this??

So are they going to drop the tank for you?

I have got a L322 PDF Workshop manual for your MY range that I can flick to you if you give me an email address. As far as I can see the tank sits across the drive shaft to that needs to be removed as well.

It also looks that the filler hose sits at the bottom of the tank so that would be a good point to drain the fuel, take the filler hose of an have a big bucket or tray sitting there to catch it in batches.

Next week I have the mechanics here open up my tank (the two covers inside the car) to clean it out as I am afraid it is full of crap causing all kinds of issues. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Getting to the two covers wasn't so bad. The tank was super clean inside but the fuel was mucky(some old engine oil was in my transfer container) but not gloopy or dirty perse other than that and i know the engine can run on a very tiny amount of engine oil and we are talking only about 100ml but it spreads quick in the BioD.

I'm hoping they can get it sorted.
The big part for me was the prop shaft, I just don't have the ability to get it off

If I had a garage like yours John I could have stood a chance as i dont mind the work but on your back with only about 1-1.5' of space is too hard

Nothing worse than scrambling around on your back trying to undo rusted nuts and bolts.

Might start renting out some ramp space

If something can't be fixed with a hammer....... You have yourself an electrical fault!

Looked at it with the car in extended mode on my dads ramps(older but much stronger than the halfrauds coke can ones) but it really does need to be up in the air to be done right as its just way to awkward otherwise.

Alternative method to ramps

Well I'm screwed as they couldn't find what was wrong at all. Nearest good garage can't get it in till Tuesday and land ranger in Stockport can't get it in for a few weeks even

If worst comes to worst I can get it flat bedded over there as part of my recovery thing.

In the meantime I'm £300 banger hunting to get me by for a month or two and transfer insurance to it and sorn rover in meantime if it takes to long.

Why don't you do it the African way, flip the car on its side if you want to work on the bottom ??? Also, much easier to drain the tank  MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Yeah i dont think i can flip it on the side without additional cost....
