I have had similar thoughts but will be sometimes be towing off road and thought that the military hitch might be better for this as that was the original design purpose.

There is a fella on the Disco forums called RLD who makes a towhitch for this specific use and brings the hieght upto the correct level for the bate hook arrangement |
