I am well known for being ignorant, and given there are no stupid questions only stupid people Wink :

What is a BDC when it is at home? .

Ah, now I am with you, BCM (Body Control Module) Laughing

But even now I know what you mean, I still don't have an answer. Cam-Tech Craig might know....... .

They can be re-coded or the vehicle can work with the new one (should be same type, hardware, software, firmware and the likes). The re-coding can be done by a dealer as far as I know.

In my car the LCM (Light Check Module) has a different VIN so my Faultmate is now getting the new codes (I have a Single Vehicle version) so the Faultmate will work on the LCM. Since I don't have the dot, the LCM should have been given the same km's as the rest of the ECU with the cars mileage in them. That is likely done by the dealer that replaced the LCM.

So as far as I can tell, it is possible to replace the ECUs with others (obviously as they do break from time to time and don't seem to render the cars useless) but some of the re-coding may have to be done by LR themselves. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
