DDE/Glow plug light?

Chaps and Chapettes,

How long does/is the glow plug light meant to stay on for a TDV8, on all the other diesel cars we have its off in matter of 1-2 sec. on the FF it can take 5-8sec.....

is this normal?

Cheers. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

The older the plugs the longer it takes. To be honest most will go out pretty quick unless ubber cold outside as they will actually stay on for so long after the engine stops cranking and is in run position to aid quicker warm up and smoother idling by helping the diesel ignite Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

TDV8 this morning was about 5 seconds

Never really thought about this before - I think it was a similar amount of time in my old TDV6 RRSport and maybe the same in my old Merc E270 Cdi.

Doesn't bother me to be honest, routine is to get in car, ignition to stage 2, then do up seat belt and by that time the lights are out and the engine is ready to start... Thumbs Up

Good practise to wait normally 2-5 seconds on a Range Rover TDV8

The glow plugs are all controlled by a timed relay that "should " supply power to the glow plugs for approx 30 sec which you will hear click off if you are near it on most cars they are under the bonnet and the light is just a rough guide and i would have thought that being land rover they set the time on the light to stay on longer to cover all bases in extreme cold etc. which is why it stays on longer than a BMW car.

About 5-6 secs this am.

Like the idea of belting up whilst waiting.
