Wow, I think I now have a BIG issue. The battery went down during the night to the point where I can't now open the doors with the remote control. Here comes the BIG issue, the car is locked and the driver's door got a problem yesterday that predvents me from opening it mechanically from the outside.
The bonnet is closed, everything is closed...
How can I do?

Do you have an auxiliary trailer socket? Might be able to charge the battery through that

If you remove the belly pan under the engine, the alternator plug is accessable. So surely you could charge the battery through thy plug. You would just need to identify the pin out of the plug to locate 12v and ground. MY2010 TDV8 Vogue Ipanema Sand

You can either connect a spare battery or battery charger to a white tow socket as above, or you can connect a spare battery or battery charger by connecting to the red cable starter connection and an earth point on the car. You need to lie under the car to do this.
Either way will allow you to open the door.

I'm told it is also possible to remove a rear number-plate light and connect a spare battery or battery charger to the lamp connections.

I had an RAC jump start our Motorhome by Negative to chassis & Positive direct to the Starter Motor. Not sure if this can be done on a RR.

However it won't start. I have my defender giving it power at about 2000rpms but the key doesn't unlock the car

You will need to charge the battery from now until tomorrow morning to get a reasonable charge into the battery, particularly as current is draining away at the same time. Be patient.

Those defenders really are under-powered

Did the key unlock the car when you connected the battery to the blinker? might be a bad connection between the defender and range rover.

yes the doors were unlocked by the remote key.

My driver's door lock wasn't working with the key in the barrel and I was worried about the very same thing; battery going flat and how I would get in. I'm glad you solved it.

The fact that LR have saved costs by fitting ONE lock is pretty outrageous really. My advice to anyone here is to periodally check that you can unlock the driver's door with your key! 2006 4.2 SC

I've just discovered that my blinker isn't operating anymore, maybe I rewired unproperly...

Security? Nah - Cost cutting. It's much much cheaper to put a blanking plate than it is a lock.....  2006 4.2 SC
