tail gate weight limit ?

Hi - does any one know the tail gate weight limit ??

I want to climb over it - into the back but I'm larger than an average bear. Rolling Eyes and dont want to break it off.

When we're out shooting we often stand on them, and more often than that have 3 adults sitting on it when we drive across fields. The steel cable is pretty sturdy!

I've only ever seen a tailgate support 'go', but that was on a P38A model as the cable was a bit weedy for the job.

Back in the RR Classic days we would ride on the tailgate on the road between shoot drives, can you imagine the uproar these days if people saw 3 or 4 kids sitting on the tailgate on the open road at 30-40mph? Surprised Discovery 4 HSE

Don't know the limit, but the way it holds itself up, is like a side door. It's not the side rubbers that hold it 100%, they help out.
There are two travel limit pieces (Sorry I can't remember the correct name of that part in english) below the gate which as I said is like the one on the doors. Meaning you can almost jump on it without if falling apart.

I'm 120kg and it holds me. It has even held 2 people at around 200kg total....

I'd say mine has probably had a combination of 35 stone on it in the past, plus washing machines and the like rested on it! If you are going to put a lot of weight on it make sure that the straps on the side are secure. They are thick steel wire but the bolts holding them in can get loose over time.
