hi guys, just as a matter of interest, i went into the land rover dealers this morning to ask them to fit the new secondary pump i bought from Dan this week and they totally refused to do the job ? suggesting that i bought the pump in the uk because it was cheaper Question Question Question Whistle Whistle Whistle ( the thought never entered my mind ) Embarassed Embarassed

sorry but are we not in the euopeane union and in effect as one Question Question Question Question ,

it is a genuine land rover part with the same part number, so i wonder if they are allowed to refuse to fit it Question Censored Question

anyway i only asked them as i am a bit wary Censored something up if i do it, ie if i split one of the fuel pipes etc, and as im stuck in the middle of nowhere, i would be up the creak without a paddle. Whistle Whistle Whistle Censored Censored Censored Censored Whistle Whistle Whistle

but it looks like i now have no choice so keep your fingers crossed and wish me luck. hopefully all will go just dandy Bow down Neutral

Bob,
had the same in Belgium & it wasn't due to "cheaper parts". For me it was parts availability, i happened to be in the UK. Belgium quoted 4 weeks to obtain part - i happened to be in the UK and thought i'll try and get the part which i did - over the counter from a LR delaer. I needed the car pretty much immediatly and not to have it sitting pretty on my driveway. Finally they relented but it took a visit and complaint to LR Belgium. I just put it down to protectionism - and i'm still sure i paid over the odds for fitting [read bring price up to what it would/should]. Is there not a LR Indy near you?.

hi David, thanks for the reply. i think it would be pointless going toi ie land rover paris to complain, as they obviously dont like the idea i purchased the item outside france. regardless of the reason, which is probably the fact that they would normally load the premium on parts Whistle Whistle Whistle . but as you suggest, you no doubt have charged a lot more in labour. so it is simply a case that i could never return to this garage again Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation .

with regard to my comments about loading the costs of parts, here are a couple of examples.

oil change, ( oil, filter and labour ) 280euro.

new battery 850/110 inc fitting 274 euro ( varta )

secondary fuel pump 201euro plus 19.6% vat

oil service inspection one 440euro

i think i rest my case Censored Censored Censored and they wonder why i bought the par tin the uk Question Question
