Hi Fellas

My driver side washer has stopped working on my 57 TDV8 and I notice that there is an electrical connection below the washer jets.

Is this a mini pump or something to prevent freezing or something else?

Any ideas on why I get no water, it doesn't seem to be blocked as I have pushed a fine needle into the jet holes?

The washer jet incorporates a small non-return valve in the body behind the jets.
It appears the silicon rubber plunger in the valve commonly gets displaced and blocks the water flow.
Happened on mine.
Either replace the washer jet with new or remove the washer jet from the car and split the body. It's fairly evident how it splits in two.
Remove the orange silicon rubber plunger and spring and put the washer jet back together and refit to the car.
It will now work.
Surprisingly it works perfectly well without the non-return valve even though it shouldn't.
I bought a replacement washer jet to replace a faulty unit but haven't bothered fitting it for the last 6 months.

They are heated. See if you are getting water to the inlet and if so then the jet is still clearly blocked.

Thanks fellas, I will remove the jet tomorrow in daylight and check out the plunger etc and let you know the outcome.

Thats interesting as my old man said that when they were using range rovers and discoveries during Rover/BMW testing in cold climates they would routinely remove the non return valves as it was the weak point with regards freezing and damaging the plunger/membrane. Trouble is when you do it at the rear it takes a while to come through by which time your wiper has been rubbing grit and mud onto your window but I dont imagine this is much of an issue at the front especially if the other one is fine. Out of interest do you see a difference in the speed the water appears between the two jets?

Surprisingly the jet works as before, although as you say you would expect the water to drain back, to date mine hasn't.
Don't know why but I will wait until it does before replacing.

Literally just fixed my 2012/12 Westminster d/s washer jet.Unclip it,remove red/orange rubber plunger,refit,done!

Had to do this on all three FFRR I have owned,you would think RR would just leave the plunger out and save loads of cash and warranty claims.I could not be bothered to go to the dealer for this so five minutes and alls good once more.  If you have nothing nice to say,say nothing at all.
