When the top photo was taken, that car was simply a standard (WR) quattro with a replica paint job. However, I have spent the past 18 months (and a heck of a lot of money) turning that car into a truly functional rally car and there is some way to go with the project yet.

If you are interested, there is a thread on disco3 about it here Thumbs Up

Just read through that thread, a real labour of love, I had now idea the parts for those cars were so hard to come by. Bow down

Cool Hi JMC -

Read through you thread on the D3 site - superb! - real commitment - Hope you realise your dream before to much longer...

I regulary drive past the new West London Audi Centre on M4/A4 near Chiswick - on one of the many floors they have a mouth watering display of Audi competiton vehicles (old and new) including a rally spec 80, a bright red SWB Quattro and their diesel powered Le Mans racer amongst others from what I can see.

Have you had a chance to visit it? (they must have works spec quattro amongst them - its legendary!)

What successes have you had with your competion driving?

Keep up the hard work Thumbs Up

Nope! Seen plenty of them a number of times and I have my own Audi museum here anyway! Laughing

I'm not going to pretend to be Colin McRae. I've never done competitive stage rallying (yet) but have been involved in club-level motorsport for many years. In 1994 I won my class in the Scottish Road Rally championship as well as the club Sprint championship and Autotest championship. With my navigator, we're currently leading the Scottish Road Rally Championship overall, but it's all 'small beer' compared to proper stage rallying. In truth, when my car is finished my aim is to go out and have fun rather than win any prizes. I said at the age of 13 that I'd rally a quattro to Monte Carlo and after 30 years I'm getting close to the realisation of that goal. For me, that's all that's important. Thumbs Up The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile
