TouchScreen Satnav retrofit

Hi,

I have a facelift 05 SE that has touch screen with all functions but satnav. It tells me no satnav installed when I press the (hard or software) button.

It also has an antenna on the top (don't know what this means.

I'd like to fit nav in it but have to figure out what I need.
Is it just that: 2005 Land Rover/RANGE ROVER DENSO GPS NAVIGATION MAP READER CPU MODULE COMPUTER or do I need something else?

ps: I think I've deeply searched the forum and didn't find the info Wink thanks!

tbh, the OE nav is ok but you could get a all singing and dancing tomtom for around £100... worth considering... ... - .- -.

The short answer is yes, it is possible. However it is not exactly straightforward.

You would need a loom which I can get you the dimensions and connections for - you would have to make this.

Then you need a DVD unit, can be found on the bay for about €150. You also need a co-ax cable to go up to the roof fin, again you would have to make this.

Last you would need a diagnostic tool which can enable the feature in the CCF file.

Once you have all this it will take about a day to do the work. Seats out, carpets out, dash out.

Hope this helps.

Dom.

Ok... Enlightening! Now I'm a big fan of the second screen Wink
I won't go through this work, for sure, I'm too newbie, time constrained (and lazy Wink)
I kind of had a secret hope that it would just be adding a DVD unit and enabling it but it's far from being the case...
And for the record, I had found a (much more complete) parts list here http://www.blackbox-solutions.com/IUI/Main_Parts_List.pdf, part of the excellent diary here http://www.blackbox-solutions.com/IUI/diary.htm

Ireland 2008 Range Rover HSE TDV8 Santorini Black

Hi, Have not visited the forum for some months, fitted sat nav to 2008 RR HSE, got much help from members in forum.
Steve and Dom in particular. Same instructions have been posted for you. I was a bit anxious at times especially with dash stripped down, given that you could buy a unit for couple hundred Euro and stick it on the dash. But it was worth the effort and it works a treat, was in France in November spent a few days in Bordeaux, it worked a treat. I assume it has added value to the vehicle. The most difficult bit is securing the cable from the DVD reader in the boot to the dash,
it should be available in breakers.

If you need any further assistance feel free to contact me.

Regards Jack. Jack

Do you mean a third party thingy like tomtom?
Thanks for the info, if you pass by around bordeaux again, you're more than welcome for a glass of wine + RR chat Wink
As for the modifications, I first need to get this http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post174998.html#174998 sorted out.
Had also asked some questions about plugs I have in the boot here http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post175103.html 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

Rocking up to this thread a bit late.
If the originator has the Sat nav antenna ( sharks fin) and If he has the unit (black dvd player) on the left hand side of the boot. Is it not just the unit thats faulty?

I had the same message when mine broke replaced with one off of the bay of E all fine. When checking old one found water damage to the circuit board despite having water shedder fitted!
Now got extra sealing around it. Mine was a blue one! Smile

Not late, don't worry.
I have the Shark Fin antenna (could it be a dumb one?) on the roof but no dvd player and no connection loom either I think.
See here http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post175103.html
Can you picture your left & right side of the boot & do you have a touchscreen model (I guess so)? 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand
