Way too fancy for me Will, I had a hybrid for 2 years thinking it would be better and save the old back. I managed to cycle 15 miles on it, I hated the bloody thing so I'm sticking with road bikes and will suffer the backache

I know, it looks like a hybrid but is meant to be a cheap downhiller but the tyres aren't up to it really

I'll try and get another set of rims with discs on and tyres and go tubeless on a good set of offroad tyres and then just pump these upto the max for the ride to work and back to get the fat off my a55 but the lockout really irks me still

Keep your eyes peeled for me

Well the insurance have decided to pay up for a Load Liner(rigid) instead of sourcing one so that checque is in the post.

However after a good few days of riding to work and back and my shakedown ride after building the bike (IE sticking pedals on and aligning the handle bars and checking the brakes!) The left hand crank decided to say goodbye to the left hand pedal.

Now on closer inspection it appears that the thread wasn't upto the job, as always to avoid cross threading i put it on by hand and then nipping it up with the right size on an adjustable spanner.

They wont have any of it, and that despite rebuilding far too many french cars and engines and working on the FF enough and never having crossed a thread before, that on a bike it must be my fault and not the softest threads in the world giving way without any damage at all happening to the pedal threads, although i get that one is a softer metal it still would have damaged the other.

They want to charge me for a replacement crank arm, but offered me 23% off the price as a GWG. I said thats not good will, thats screwing me for even more money and i'd rather give my business to an honourable company that can live upto its claims..

No response to it just yet... im fuming as the thing left me 4 miles from home having to pedal on the right side only with no clips to hold my foot in so relying on momentum to bring the thing back round

Took the ALAN out for its first outing last weekend and covered a comfortable 27 miles, another 30 miles today and I can report that it's running well.

Yes it's a fixed wheel so makes for an interesting downhill ride


It weights in at just under 8 kilos, I think 7.9 kilos without pedals

I wouldn't ever touch a fixed wheel, not even a trike!

Im still struggling with the sodding crank arm. Due to their design the crank hole/interface is rotated 45' so i cant just slot on another one!!
