Gearbox 'slam'?

Hi,

Our SC sometimes feels almost like it slams (or clunks) to change down a gear when driven up to a junction and under braking/ almost like its playing catch up.. It's not driven hard.

It is going into the main dealer next week for something else to be looked at and will have it checked out but wondered if any people had similar/ ideas about what it might be (software upgrade required)?

Thanks...

Mine does the same sometimes. My old Jag S-Type R and BMW 750i which have the same gearbox also did it so I think it's an idiosyncrasy of the ZF6HP transmission. 2006 FFRR 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

I had the same until the gearbox and engine software was updated in January for the first time since new, that has cured the problem so far. I am sure I was given a technical bulletin in about it at the time, I will have a look for it if anybody is interested. MY2007 S/C - Stornoway / Jet

It is all over the net, the 2-1 downshift on the 6HP26. Very unfortunate design flaw that comes with age. Can probably be resolved by changing out the Mechatronic for a refurbished or new one but that is a bit expensive. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I'm interested in that publication please?

Just recently bought car off MD and any gearbox problem should be covered under warranty.

Thanks for replies to date...

. . . . Interestingly, it doesn't apply to the NA AJV8 in the FF, but does to the same in the D3 ?

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?
