I must be a big prevert

Bought and cut up all this steel.

Welded it into this frame.

Painted it then hoisted it up 3m to the terrace above the garage.

Added glass and then lowered all 700kg of it into position.

Just so I can look up skirts!

Should be nice when the decking and glass balcony are installed.

No, it was built like that with a glass roof always in mind. Without it the ground floor would be far too dark. It's all part of a never ending renovation/build project, but I'm much closer to the end than the begining now.

Don't look too closely at my bird sh*t welding. Embarassed

Nice job Kurt!! Thumbs Up

The first picture made me wonder like what the hell is he going to do with all that steel since of course I started thinking in relation to the FFRR... Got me confused there but really a great project and results. Thumbs Up Mike.

I thought this was a "super trailer" build thread but I was pleasantly surprised. Looks amazing, of course up skirt shots are welcome Smile

May I be nosy and ask a rough cost? That glass must cost a fortune, I'm guessing its ultra strength and self cleaning?

Great work!

Of course, you'll only be inviting the most attractive ladies for viewing, won't you? No munters allowed. Si. <This is my name.

The steel came to £455 ex VAT and the glass was £1380. Add in some paint and gas and wire for welding, all in all around £2k + the 8% Swiss VAT I had to pay on import. I bought all the materials in the UK (shefield) when I was over in Feb. A bit nuts but I had space on the trailer so in fact made sense as things are expensive here. If I'd have asked a Swiss firm to make and install it, I'm guessing maybe circa £10k.

The glass is indeed high strength. I didn't know there's self cleaning glass. Banging Head
