Cost to change front and rear pads and sensors - TD6

Just had the brake pad check light come on on the TD6, was wondering how much a local garage would charge me to do the work? I'm in Hertfordshire. Am asking as didnt want to just pull up in it and have another £100 added to the price because of the car I drive if its a fairly easy job to do

Better still, any of you local to Stevenage/WGC/Hertford fany an afternoons work?

Cheers all

It's a fairly straight forward job if you have the right tools and aptitude. Parts anything from £200 to £400 (inc. discs) depending on what you buy Whistle and labour from a main dealer will be @ the same.

Check the wiki for howtos .

I did mine end of 2011, very straightforward, :-

Pair of Discs with pads around £70 to £80 non genuine of course

Dont forget the wear sensor around £7 to £10

and lots of copper grease............... Thumbs Up

You may need a pair of hand brake shoes if they have been in place for some years as they can break up a bit. these are about £45 to £55

Now you mention it, the handbrake doesnt seem to hold as well as it did, and not sure if its my imagination but it feels like it comes up further too, almost too far (without looking like the handbrake it pointing north), could this be a symptom of the handbrake shoes breaking down?
Are pattern shoes OK?
