Anyone know how to replace a Steering column motor?

My tilt motor needs replacing, it's a bit weak. Dealer wants £450 to replace it (parts and labour and VAT)

I have seen new tilt motors on the Bay for £150 and hope I can do this myself. I've had all the steering column plastic cowling off before now so I know how to get at it, as far as I can tell it's just a screw jack and held in place by 2 allen key bolts.

Anyone done it before? I tried the search and Dan_UK_1984 replaced his entire column but got an indie to do it, want to do it myself.

Anyone? Discovery 4 HSE

There is a bit in TOPIX about it, seems quite simple.

Edit:

Quote:
Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to: Specifications (414-00, Specifications).
2. Fully extend the steering column for access.
3. NOTE: The steering wheel is shown removed for clarity.
Remove the steering column lower shroud.
 Release the steering column extension gaiter.
 Remove the 3 screws.
4. Remove the steering column upper shroud.
5. Remove the steering column tilt motor.
 Disconnect the electrical connector.
 Remove the 2 bolts.

I don't have TOPIX, where do I get it?

I checked RAVE and there's no mention of replacing the motors just an entire column. Discovery 4 HSE

Maybe Uli (Meerbusch) knows what to do. He knows his way around the steering column quite well with his new plastic nuts (no pun intended). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

It's funny because there's no description on HOW to remove it!

I think, from looking at pictures of the motor, it is literally 2 allen key bolts and the motor drive slots onto the tilt screw jack head, plus an electrical connector.

I reckon it will be a fairly easy job, but fiddly due to access and being upside down trying to do it.

Motor bought on eBay for £100 with guarantee, looking forward to having a go. Discovery 4 HSE
