I had a 1 series with run flats but standard size and not sports suspension and it was fine for long journeys. Although mine was an early 120d with auto and would only do about 44mpg.

Be careful with the drinking if you're driving back.

Oh, and to echo Frank, Stuttgart is a great city to visit.
