Unstable TV Signal

Hi,

The TV on our car gives a blocky picture when switched on, then stabilises to a fine clear picture but jumps/ goes blocky every few seconds (we live in a good signal area and it does this on the driveway and on the car park of the local retail park a few miles away). A new module was main dealer fitted a couple of years ago.

Is this normal please?

Thanks

Mine doesn't judging from the limited use mine has had, so I'd say it's not normal.

I'd better get out and check again now you've said that... Si. <This is my name.

blocky pictures normally mean low signals, especially on minority channels...tune it to bbc1 and see if this still happens..it could also be a bad connection on the antenna ...
you also need to remember that although you might get a good signal with no blocking on your tv with a aerial on the roof ,you wont get the same signal strength on the range due to its limited antenna.. ... - .- -.

Thanks both... I'm talking about the TV on with the car engine running and parking brake applied (so not referring to an intermittent signal whilst driving around) Thumbs Up

Ps.. not had the TV on before due to other issues with the car

As others have said, getting a good, constant signal is the key to a stable picture. Find a big hill and drive to the top of it, that's close to a TV mast and all will be well! Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
