United Kingdom 2002 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black
Tailgate Finisher Trim - Ivory or Parchment?

I need to replace the Centre Trim Panel to the Upper Tailgate on my MY2002 Vogue as nearly all the fixing tabs that engage in metal clips have broken off over the years when its been removed and its causing a rattle.

Can any forum members give me any idea on how to identify the trim colour.

My vehicle is Java Black with Jet / Charcoal Seats and Interior.

There's a choice of two according to Microcat - either Ivory or Parchment and this two foot bit of plastic trim weighs in at £177 + VAT! From a brochure of 2002 the colours appear very similar.

Dan has very kindly sent me the Build Sheet for the car but its about the only thing not mentioned; just says "Rear Trim - High Line" what ever that means.

My local Lookers Main Agents (sorry - should have gone to Dan) have supplied the trim in Parchment but it doesn't quite match, as it seems to have a touch of sand like colour in it whereas the trim in my car tends towards very light grey; could that be Ivory?

The Parts Guy punched in my Reg No. / Vin No into Microcat but the vehicle details were not specific on this item. Sometimes the parts catalogue will throw up the message "Not applicable to this vehicle" but it didn't do this for the part I was after

There again, the plastic parts in my car have been there for 10 year plus so the original colour may have degraded over time.

A call to LR Customer Services didn't help; they couldn't tell me what had been used when the car was built either.

Any ideas on how I can pin down the correct colour would be gratefully received. Peter Kemp

No other FFRR Forum Members were able to help out with identifying the correct trim colour of my MY2002 Vogue and with no information available from LR or Main Agents I had a brainwave.

Searching a well know auction site I found a similar piece of trim where the colour and part no was actually listed. It cost me £20.00 but was well worth it as it confirmed that the "Parchment" trim was incorrect and that I needed "Ivory".

Although a couple of weeks had passed, Lookers in Chelmsford were happy to arrange the supply of the correct part and more importantly whereas the Parchment trim retailed at about £196, the Ivory was only about £84 so I received a £111 refund!

These trim parts sometimes have a small white stick-on label identifying the Part No and colour but if this has fallen off as it had in my case you are stuck and must make a guess (unless its "Charcoal / Jet" which is the third option). It could have been an expensive mistake! Peter Kemp

Re: Tailgate Finisher Trim - Ivory or Parchment?

Hi, maybe the trim piece doesnt lend to this but would your existing trim not stop rattling by using some double sided tape or double sided adhesive pads of the type used for securing registration plates. They come in sizes between 1mm thick and 6mm thick and can be bought in Halfords for a couple of pounds. The tape/pads might not be visible and when later required the item that has been stuck down usually just pulls away/ easier with the heat from a hair dryer?

You could then just clean up or re-spray the existing trim?
