Hi everyone, my 03 full fat has a thule towbar with aftermarket wiring and aftermarket bypass relay. One great function is that when I plug in the 7 pin socket, the car runs a bulb check sequence for about 30 seconds, turning on each indicator, headlights, and brake lights in turn, allowing you to check operation of trailer lights single handed. However, the relay has begun to fail, and I have had to tap one of the indicators direct from the car loom, bypassing the bypass relay!!

I need to change from 7 pin to 13 pin, and was wondering, is this check sequence something the CAR does when it senses a socket connected, or something the RELAY does? If the latter, Anyone know what make of relay does this?

That is a relay specific thing, if you are changing i would recommend pilling all the old wiring oit and fitting gen lr plug and play kit. Ok you wont get the flashing light show at the start bit it will talk to the canbus and you will get the error on the dash should something fail.

Also it should talk to the eas and prevent the car from entering motorway mode..... Should you be towing at 90...... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Would love to go genuine, but Dan says its no longer available.... But I found the unit I currently have, from these people. Lo bading, but same size and shape, and the unit behaves as per the description here.

Will get from them again; they are even looking to see if they can fit a plug to the relay for me that connects to the white plug in the car rather than using taps.
