2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Santorini Black

What on earth is this?

Ok - I know it is an uncoiled spring next to a one pence piece.

I spied it on the floor of my RR, near side rear. Square in the middle of the floor. Right between where a person's heels would be.

The kids are the only people who've been in the back, and they swear they've never seen this. Has my RR started shedding parts?

Looks like the coil spring out of the cup holder on the passenger side dash to me. 5.0 supercharged autobiography

Good guess. I went out to the car expecting the cupholder not to work, but it worked perfectly.

I had a proper look in the back and found some other pieces of plastic. Suddenly it all became clear - it's the innards of a retractable 3.5mm to iphone cable I bought from ebay. I must have pulled the cable too hard and destroyed the retractable bit, firing the plastic casing and coil spring around the rear of the car. All tidied up now.

Reminds me of when I used to eace yachts , I would carry a couple of shackle pins in my pocket and if we got close to another boat you throw the pin high in the air to land on their deck .
Shortly after that their boat speed would half as every one started looking of the imminent rig failure
