Pixel fixing

After getting the car back from her successful pass from the mot station, i thought i would treat her by fixing the pixel fading on the dash. All i can say is i've never been more nervous drilling out 4 holes!!!! Shocked Shocked

I took my time and after a couple of hours of nervous graft the result is perfect. The hardest / time consuming part was scrapping all the gunk off the circuit board. I bought the replacement ribbon from ebay for i think £15, so i've saved myself £95 getting somebody else to do it. The instructions that came with the ribbon were brilliant and to be honest i couldn't have done it without them.

Has anyone else attempted this fix?

I weighed up doing it myself but I decided I would probably make it worse so I booked mine in with a guy in Southampton as he isnt to far from me and I got all my dash lights upgrade to white leds at the same time. Reformed

COULD YOU PLEASE tell me why one has to drill for Holes
I fixe my TDV8 dashboard without drilling anything, but they could be different
Now I have to fix my 2003 4L4 one, so would rather get the intel first
Also, do you still have the fitting instruction, it seems the ribbon I ordered doesnt come with anything

If you buy it from AKSpeedo they have a link to their website where you can download the instructions. If you buy a ribbon from someone else it might be a bonded cable so different to fit. I just bought one so need to get the time to fit it.

I found instructions by searching google that were pretty comprehensive. However these remove the motors etc and do not require drilling but its much more work.

The instructions I intend to follow require drilling through the white face to remove the screws holding the lcd display in place.
