Rear Shock Absorbers - 2012 Westminster

Since I purchased the car, these has been a metallic "clinking" noise coming from the rear of the car.

Two separate dealers have made many unsuccessful attempts to cure this.

At about 5K miles, they replaced the rear shocks.

Much more tinkering in the intervening period has produced nothing.

Today, at 15K miles, they have decided to again replace the rear shocks.

This will now be the 3rd set in 15K miles.

This seems very strange to me.

Has anyone else had a similar problem and do you think their proposed course of action is sensible?

Thanks.

Could it be one of the rear hatch door latches requiring adjustment, there are three. Mine needed adjusting but i'd describe the noise I was hearing as more of a rattle.
Just a thought. 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Baltic Blue MY11

Thanks Baron.

It's definitely a metal-on-metal clinking noise rather than a rattle.

That said, they have tinkered about with hinges etc in the tailgate but nothing has cured it.

It seems strange that two sets of shocks could be faulty in such a short time.

Mmm.

Seems obvious but I'm going to get them to check this tomorrow as they still have the car.

Cheers. Smile

Difficult to pin down from the drivers seat. I had my missus drive while I sat in the boot looking for the source of the rattle. 4.4 TDV8 Vogue Baltic Blue MY11

So, after having the car for 4 days, and being promised it back with replacement shock absorbers this afternoon, suddenly they are now, "on back order" and will be 2-3 weeks? Rolling Eyes
