22 inch rim tyre pressures. same as s 18's or 19's?

i dont have to worry about TPMS as i dont have it, but as i was gifted a set of newish 22 inch tyres, when i got my l322, so i bought some 22 inch rims to see what they would drive like. I like them, (so far) however, I wondered if i should be running the same standard tyre pressures? ie handbook etc. the tyres are 285 35 22 i think from memory, so i have a wider footprint, but same gross weight. so is there technically a difference to compensated? i just dont want to find i have worn the tyres prematurely -down the line. would it be less, or more? there must be some science behind this question. lastly what do people with 22 inch wheels put in theirs? (pressure)

had it four-wheel aligned for £64 at kwik-fit this week, it was well out, and was shown before after printout, (kept it) the rears were crabbing to the left, and fronts were toed out, but it drove fine! and steering wheel now dead straight. kwik-fit's new 'hunter' wheel setup costs £50k so they tell me.

i have been driving with 34 psi for a few weeks, all seems ok. i will try them at 40psi now. i think i started at 30psi initially. i only wonder if i was to hit a proper pothole, that i dont end up with typical inner rim damage as aftermarket 22 inch alloys seem to get. mine appear to be genuine branded wheels, with a 950kg stamping etc. i can also say that the new 22 inch 'durun f1' tyres are a little (slightly) noisy, but the noise is a sort of lowish speed 'tread pattern frequency' as it passes over the tarmac. the pattern is a v groove, with quite a broad 'finger width' groove but as the car is whisper quiet anyway, i may be thinking of the 1970's 'rolls royce clock ticking complaint'
i haven't driven the l322 on 18 inch doughnut tyres, so cant really compare. but compared to the old p38 on 18's this l322 is light years ahead in drivability/comfort/presence/feel etc. before when crossing real rough tarmac in the p38 the car shook and twisted, and the trim rattled. in the l322 it goes over with much better feel, and more stable. possibly even more on standard wheels. largely due to the l322 being independant suspension, with subframes, and having a BMW 'build'
ive driven old 7 series bmw's in the past and always in awe of there boat like size, but almost GTI cornering.

hmm, interesting...

well, that's interesting, the approved figures above, to me seem quite high. especially the SC at 49 in the rear. I shall try 33/36 this week. I think I have around 30 all round at the mo. I cant tell any difference, though! I sometimes see the sidewalls look a bit odd when on a very low kerbstone.

I must be quite lucky, only having my tyre pressures to worry about on the FF............ -at the moment. Smile

(sipping my beer)
in the past I have solved mostly through this forum, answers to various problems on my FF, and look at other peoples 'situations' and 'experiences' to gain a bit more knowledge just in case I hear/feel something etc.
-and to look at the funny pics people put up!
we are a nice bunch of owners enthusiasts, and happy to share our experience, and labour of love.... and (I for one) cock a wry smile at the sport owners, that didn't bother trying out the real thing. -and don't know that their cars ARE heavier than the real thing too (mine a 2002 v8 =2448kg vs 2005 sport 2480kg). only by a crate of beer or two, but something they should have thought about!Laughing
