Paint options

Anyone know when the paint options will open up again ? I know they got stopped due to capacity limitations, but if I go for a 15MY car (already had an AB this year) I would like to have something that looks a bit different... Don't worry I will not have orange chromaflair

According to the order guide, all the AB colors are back for 2014.5 they are all listed on a separate tab, production starts Dec 16 2013.

Although 14.5 officially starts on Dec 16 there are a few things which are not actually available until Feb build (e.g. Style 24 seats (split backrest), 10.2" RSE and InControl) are the ones to my knowledge. I am not sure about colours as I am only going for a premium colour (which is enough of a rip off) never mind an AB colour which is just silly money.

That good info 5.0. Spoke to my dealer earlier in the week and he confirmed the new seats and in control couldn't be ordered yet.
Got a late Feb build for a Sport to tie me over to a MY15 FFRR but at this pace MY15 is a year away...

it seems to me that they are making some changes every few months at the moment so whatever MY you wait for there is always a change around the corner. At least I have waited long enough for the split backrests which I have missed since MY2006. I thought they were the most comfortable seats of any car I have had.

@ 5.0: agree with you, it is ridiculous they keep changing specs every few months, not aware of any other premium manufacturer doing this on such a consistent basis. They announced changes to the sport even before the first ones where delivered....At £100k for a decent spec SDV8, I want the latest and greatest, not the soon to be upgraded/improved...

MY15 sounds like meaningful changes are coming but then again no doubt they will have 15.5 brining yet more things..

Thought the pano roof was supposed to be sorted by Jan, end of Feb now? Messy. Hence the other issue with constant spec changes, by the time they actually deliver the cars with the new specs, some new new specs come around...

I was going to get another car now, but it seems sensible to wait for 2015 MY, or maybe a Sport in between, though I need to resist a 5.0 Supercharged... they sound so good.

back to your original Q on AB colours, this is what they have in the order guide. Some pretty "individual" choices there...
Seemed to recall from somebody's post here earlier in the year LR saying that the paint quality was also much higher entire body dipped vs sprayed. In any case a very hefty premium on an already very pricey car.

I'd agree that twice-yearly upgrades are counter-productive, especially with long lead times - spend £100k+ only to find out it's obsolete by the time you get it. Not the way to keep people happy.

Would be nice to see a Porsche-style paint-to-order scheme.

I believe they do offer a paint to order scheme although I fear the cost would make us cry. Agree Porsche one is very well organised and relatively competitive at around £3k if I recall, once saw a 911 Cab in an awesome blue ordered through that programme. With LR it is bound to delay an order by a couple of MY updates then again that could be a blessing...

As for the changes for MY 14.5, can't seem to be able to upload the XLS order guide so drop me a PM if you need it.
The main highlights are below. AB SDV6 Hybrid a cheeky £98,430, the good news is the £200 VED rate, the bad news is it can't be fitted with Dynamic Response.

Sorry for the garish yellow colour, clearly order guide is down by the accountants rather than the designers Wink

Almost forgot the seats with upper backrest articulation the best part!

My paint to order on the last Porsche they wanted 9K and it was a colour they had in the range the year before !

Problem is that JLR have such massive demand from the Middle east and Far east that they can now almost name there price and people in those areas will pay for a new model every year which is just mad Sad Far to many gone...
