I bought a new L322 and hardly drove it so far, so is almost as new all around. Now I try to prepare her for the winter and wondering if I need to buy mud flaps. In a long term does it protect the paintwork from chips?
Anybody having experience with or without those?
Does the gravel/stones from wheels damage the nearby paintwork?
Is there any additional drilling required during installation on a 2010+?

I have never put them on any of my cars as I think they are ugly!
They obviously do offer a small measure of protection. But i still wouldnt fit them as it is minimal and they have a tendancy to hoard mud and stones if you dont hose them off fairly often.I woul NEVER drill any holes anywhere in any car as you will lose your corrosion protection.
My opinion - - some people love em'

There is no drilling of the metal parts of the car required, i have them on mine cos it came with them, saying that though, I usually have a set at the back as i tow a caravan and it prevents some stone damage to that, in terms of damage to the car, i think the benefit is small. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

They stop a lot of road tar build up...

I them off my own cars as I think they are fugly and spoil the lines.

my range came without so i put some on , didnt like them so they come off ...the only benefit i see is a slightly cleaner body but in snow the flaps collect the road slush and then when you pull into your drive it promptly deposits it in a big lump. ... - .- -.

I like them, reduces mud and spray spoiling the paintwork on lower front doors and rear bumper sides . Not a hardship to clean rubbish out of wheel arches every now and then. Wished I had them on previous vehicles! Previous cars:

Range Rovers always look better with them IMHO - right back to the first Classics . . . . plus, the front ones do a good job for the sides -

I took mine off as they were damaged and thought it may look better without them, after a few weeks of being thrown all up the sides I decided to buy some new ones from Dan and get them fitted asap. They were different to what I took off so had to send it into the indy to get fitted as it turned out to be a PITA to fit.
I prefer the look with them fitted as I found it made the fatty look skinny without

I think all cars should have them as a legal requirement as they do stop a lot of spray and stones being thrown up. I would always have them fitted. The front ones prevent quite a lot of rubbish being thrown up the sides. 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

Depends what wheels you run... The larger the wheel 20"+ FF's look better without... Older FF's with smaller wheels look better with them
