As we all know the Range Rover (all incarnations) is an offroad vehicle. So my question is, who's never used theirs for its intended purpose (a bit like owning a Rolex and being unable to tell the time ) and who loves it so much they can't stop playing in the mud every time they can?

By off tarmac I mean any means of (the badly termed) driving offroad - i.e. unsealed roads etc. Land Rover Addict

went off road twice in my td6 , ruined the paint work and got mud every where so there's no way i'm taking my recent acquisition off road, well not yet anyway.

but i think you do have to try at least once to see what the FF is capable of.. ... - .- -.

Yup - but not routinely.
Full exercise of low range / suspension raised etc all done.
I use mine as it was designed - I guess I treat it as a tool not a trinket !

As an aside - how long after buying did you take it offroad?

For me :

4.4 V8 Petrol - 1 week
4.2 SC - 1 week

There's lots of reasons for having a Range Rover without taking it off road.

I have taken mine off road - only a couple of times though.

Once to get out of a car park without paying. It was after a few drinks with some friends - an instruction to the designated drive I might add.

All the time. Although, not for fun per se. My job has me out on old dirt and mud farm roads and driving through the Texas back country a lot. I will say though, holysh*t is it a bitch to clean. At least it sure does look good covered in mud - and you get a lot of looks from all the jeeps and other off road vehicles when it is mud slung. 2007 Range Rover Supercharged

Yes, but we've got 'West Coast Pinstriping' here, so it's just cruel for a nice shiny FFRR. I did it and I was amazed by the performance. When I started to look into the protection I'd want for it, I hit on a better option: a Disco 1 to handle the offroading (it's HARD offroading) and keep the FFRR as the daily driver.

Would never take it properly off road unless it was an unavoidable emergency. Hasn't been washed for 2 weeks and feel guilty. Sad but true

Same as Ryan, although I own two other Land Rover products anyway and they're both used off-road.

Both my RR's have been used on the odd verge or field (carpark) but never strictly 'offroad'. However, I do regularly engage 'Low' and extend the suspension.

Two weeks without a clean here as well. Oh the shame of it!  Si. <This is my name.
