To remove the arm you will need a small 2 arm puller, lift up the cover (no 4 in lower image), remove the nut and washer (no 5 & 6 in lower image) and put the puller onto the back of the arm and tighten the puller onto the spindle then gently tighten the puller bolt. The arm will pop off if done properly

most times you can jiggle the arm off with a screwdriver.. ... - .- -.

Remember to put the new arm on at the right angle to the screen or you will get that knock sound as it starts or stops it's wipe action. (apparently 86 degrees against the window when parked - thanks IT Guy)

Not sure how you'd measure 86 degrees but I did mine by eye roughly and it fixed the noise)

For pullers - something like this ( linky )as there is not much room for a screwdriver and not a lot of leverage space as it is right next to the scuttle/screen Ash

Sorry Stan - you are correct - it was the adjuster plate that is hard to shift without pullers. And it's this that needs to be moved if the angle is wrong..! Bow down Ash

The angled/grooved seating plate is pressed on to the spindle, it needs a puller to get it off. You don't need to remove it to change the angle of the arm though.
A word of warning though, the seating plate is a very tight fit on the spindle, and will be a sod to get off. IIRC you are supposed to fit new seats onto the spindles when you replace them. On my 2007, I gave up trying to get them off, even after soaking them with penetrating oil etc, and using a good quality puller, I was risking damaging the spindle.

I had to cut off my seating plates as I could not shift them with a puller. The later wiper arms do not seem to have the seating plates. 2010 3.6TDV8 Stornoway Grey/ Black interior - gone
2005 4.4V8 (M62) Bonatti Grey/ Parchment interior - gone
1998 4.6HSE Blue/ Cream interior (can't remember exact colours) - gone
1977 White - gone (should have kept)
