Frost alarm

Is there a way to change the alarm point at which the frost alarm initiates?

I live in Aberdeen and approx 30% of the year is 4degrees or less the alarm therefor is useless for most of that time. Can it be reduced to a Lowe value?

The alarm is to highlight that it could be getting icy, so moving the temperature it goes off would not change when ice may occur, but you'd lose the warning, though I see what you mean. As you can drive, you can prob look out the windscreen and realise it could be icy !

Don't think you can change it or turn it off.

You could disconnect the ext temp sensor, but I'm not sure what that does to the other systems like climate control, and as it defaults to -40 when disconnected, you'd have the ice alarm all the time.

Could be wrong........those in colder climes may have further info....

Hi
Sadly you can't turn it of or lower the temp. When it is colder as -5celsius (I think) it does not give the warning anymore.
Disconnecting the exterior sensor is not an option as it is used for many more things ( interior heating,FBH,I recently found out it also influences the engin management )
The alternative is to build a resistor pack to simulate for example +5 and replace the exterior sensor to fool the HEVAC ecu.
I just live with it

i dont know how it would affect other systems but you could take the sensor off its bracket ,wrap it in foam and tuck it away behind the headlight....if it works great if it doesnt then its not hard to put back to its original position..

You can turn them off on pre 09 cars but i guess the OP will have to wait and see if it's included on the 09> when released... Thumbs Up

Unfortunately the CCF for 2007-2009 doesn't include the low temp warning (or at least I can't find it!).. Not sure about 2010 onwards.

I'm desperate to turn this off. It waits until I get going and just when I'm going in to a complicated junction the bong goes off and frightens the hell out of me! If it did it at start up then fine but it waits until I've been lulled in to a false sense of security then hits me Thud 2012 5.0L S/C

I would have thought there were a few systems that were referenced fom the temperature, so it would have to be accurate.
The main one I am thinking of is the FBH. It has to know the temp outside, so insulating and moving the temp sensor would probably stop the FBH from kicking in... If indeed it actually uses the same sensor? Previously..
